Israel’s New Ambassador to Colombia Departs Sunday After Bogotá Approval

Colombia's government approved Vivian Aisen's appointment as Israel's new ambassador, and she is expected to depart Sunday to begin her posting. Aisen is set to join Israel's rescue and humanitarian-aid delegation after arriving in the earthquake-hit country. The posting follows more than two years of severed diplomatic relations. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar met Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella this week, amid Bogotá's decisions to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, move its embassy to Jerusalem, withdraw from South Africa's ICJ case against Israel and establish mutual visa exemptions.
