Colombia Appoints Tania Gilinski as Ambassador to Israel

President Abelardo de la Espriella’s government has appointed Tania Gilinski as Colombia’s ambassador to Israel, diplomatic sources confirmed Friday. Gilinski is the daughter of Isaac Gilinski Sragowicz, who served as Colombia’s ambassador to Israel from 2010 to 2013, and the sister of banker Jaime Gilinski. The appointment follows restored bilateral relations and the government’s stated effort to deepen security, intelligence, technology and trade cooperation with Israel. Colombia has proposed moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, but that move has not occurred.
