French Suspect in Assault on Israeli Mother and Daughter Released on Bail

A French national accused of attacking a 62-year-old Israeli mother and her 23-year-old daughter near a waterfall on Koh Phangan, Thailand, was released on bail of about NIS 12,000 ($3,200). The mother remains hospitalized after two operations, including reconstructive ear surgery, while her daughter underwent two nose operations and has been discharged. The women learned of the release Friday through their hotel and confirmed it with police. Both were initially seriously injured, and the family said it did not know who paid the bail or whether the suspect remained on Koh Phangan or nearby Koh Samui.
