CENTCOM Says U.S. Eliminated Imminent IRGC Mine Threat in Hormuz

U.S. Central Command said American forces took limited, precise action against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps minelaying forces that posed an imminent threat in the Strait of Hormuz. Axios reported that two launchers on Iran’s Larak Island were struck after IRGC forces were observed preparing rockets carrying sea mines. CENTCOM rejected the IRGC’s description of the action as aggression and said Iran created the threat. It said the operation protected civilian mariners, commercial shipping and global commerce, and was the first known U.S. strike inside Iran since late July.
