Second Israeli Confirmed Missing After Nepal Floods

Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Katrina (Katya) Sakovich, 41, is the second Israeli missing after flooding near Nepal’s Rasuwagadhi-Gyirong border crossing. Sakovich, who also holds Belarusian citizenship, disappeared after traveling on a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash, and her family asked Israeli authorities to coordinate searches with Nepal, China and Belarus. Israel’s consul in Kathmandu and the ministry’s Department for Israelis in Distress Abroad are working with her family and local authorities. Nepal’s Foreign Ministry said 903 bodies had been recovered, about 4,200 people remained unaccounted for and more than 10,000 had been rescued.
