UAE Expands Ports and Trade Routes to Protect Energy Exports

UAE presidential diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash said the country is expanding eastern-coast port capacity, strengthening pipeline and railway links between vital ports, and developing alternative freight corridors. Speaking at Abu Dhabi's Hili Forum, he said Emirati energy exports and trade must not become hostage to regional volatility or crises. Gargash described national security and economic stability as strategic priorities, saying greater autonomy would help protect growth, the population and independent decision-making. He added that wars such as the 2003 Iraq invasion can leave political and security repercussions for decades.
