Yochananof Begins 4,000-Cart Smart Checkout Rollout at Two Branches

Israeli supermarket chain Yochananof has installed 100 fourth-generation ShopMate smart carts at its Segula branch in Petah Tikva and 150 at Centro in Rehovot. Starting in October, the chain plans to expand the system to 27 more branches at a pace of three per week, aiming for about 4,000 carts nationwide. Customers can sign into the loyalty program, load lists and coupons, scan products, monitor prices and pay by QR code without joining a conventional checkout line. The carts combine barcode scanning, security scales, cameras, computer vision and AI to flag mismatches between scanned goods and items placed in the cart.
