Former MK Esterina Tartman died Wednesday at 68 after a serious illness, her family and close friends announced. Tartman represented Yisrael Beytenu in the 16th and 17th Knessets from 2006 to 2009, chaired the faction and served as deputy chair of the State Control Committee. Born in Jerusalem in 1957, she moved to the religious Kibbutz Hafetz Haim at 15 and later reached the rank of major during her IDF service. Party chairman Avigdor Liberman said Tartman devoted many years to public activity and service to Israel and offered condolences to her family.
