MSF Launches Ervebo Study for 20,000 DR Congo Ebola Frontline Workers

MSF and its epidemiology center Epicentre launched the BRAVO study on September 19 at the World Health Organization-run training center in Bunia. The project aims to enroll 20,000 health-care and frontline workers in Ituri and North Kivu to test whether the licensed Ervebo vaccine offers protection against the Bundibugyo Ebola virus driving the current outbreak. MSF said the study will last 9 to 12 months, with three months of vaccination and at least six months of follow-up. Participation is voluntary, and the research supplements rather than replaces infection-prevention measures.
