Classified Knesset Session Set on NIS 15 Billion Defense Funding Dispute

A classified Knesset session titled “Urgent Needs of the Defense Ministry” is scheduled for September 23 to examine a NIS 15 billion request submitted two months ago. Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chair Boaz Bismuth will lead the session with representatives of the National Security Council, Defense Ministry and Finance Ministry Budget Division. IDF sources said delayed funding has already cost aircraft-purchase windows and could reduce reserve activity, training, personnel plans and construction. A senior defense source warned that continued delay could also affect interceptor stocks, ammunition, weapons production and repairs, while Treasury officials have said agreed funds were transferred for parliamentary approval.
