Israel's proposed purchase of 12 Apache helicopters, valued at about $1 billion, reportedly fell through after financing talks between the Finance and Defense ministries ended Wednesday evening. The initial approval envisaged payments beginning in 2030, but the Finance Ministry argued that revised terms required fresh approval under the government's three-year fiscal framework. The Defense Ministry's proposed reallocation of other project funds from 2027 reportedly failed to resolve the dispute. Government legal advisers backed the Treasury's position on the revised terms. Official responses from both ministries were still pending when the collapse was disclosed Thursday morning.
