Knesset Finance Committee Approves NIS 15 Billion for Defense

The Knesset Finance Committee approved a group of budget transfers headed by approximately NIS 15 billion for the defense establishment, clearing funds intended to equip the IDF. The government had approved the transfer about two months earlier, but it had been pending in parliament since August 2. The transfer will proceed under an agreement between the coalition and opposition required in the 90 days before the election. The committee is expected to consider further transfers, while a separate NIS 25 billion sought by the defense establishment remains without an agreement.
