The Council of Unrecognized Villages in the Negev rejected Shin Bet chief David Zini’s reported warning about attempted military-style organizing in Bedouin communities, in a response reported on October 6. The council alleged that the warning was politically motivated and accused Zini of turning the security agency into a Likud branch. Zini had reportedly told the cabinet that military infrastructure and attempts to form army-like units in some Bedouin areas were a worrying phenomenon. He reportedly said those structures were being disrupted continually.
