Israel Reportedly Moves Toward Letting Bezeq Merge With Yes

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of a coiled green Ethernet cable and transparent connector, based on an archival April 2015 generic object photograph. Contextual telecommunications imagery; it does not depict Bezeq or yes equipment, government talks or a completed merger.

Israel's finance and communications ministries are moving toward allowing a full merger between Bezeq and television company yes, according to a report describing an emerging government position. The position has taken shape in talks with telecommunications industry representatives over recent weeks. Removing the structural separation between the companies would allow Bezeq to offer television services directly alongside internet access. Bezeq currently holds 35% of the internet market. The report describes a policy shift that would open the way to a future merger and combined service offerings.
