Shaul Meridor Says Eisenkot Could Form Government Without 61 Seats

Shaul Meridor, seventh on Yashar’s candidate list, said Gadi Eisenkot could form a government even if the opposition bloc falls short of 61 Knesset seats. In an interview published October 8, he said he preferred a bloc of 64–65 seats and a strong governing party with partners to its right and left. He said coalition partners must recognize Israel as Jewish and democratic, accept the Declaration of Independence’s values including equality, and support service for all. Meridor said Ra’am currently did not meet those principles and ruled out Yashar supplying seats to complete Benjamin Netanyahu’s majority.
