Eisenkot Pledges No Coalition With Parties Holding Rabbi Lando’s Views

Yashar leader Gadi Eisenkot pledged Monday evening that he would not join a coalition with a party holding the views expressed in Rabbi Dov Lando’s remarks about Zionism and military service. He called on Zionist parties that value Israel and its security to make the same commitment. The response followed the republication of comments made about a year and a half earlier, which had already been reported at the time. Rabbi Lando is a leading rabbinic authority in the Lithuanian Haredi community, whose Degel HaTorah representatives are part of Benjamin Netanyahu’s political bloc.
