Colombia Says It Formally Requested Exit From Hague Group

Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula Escobar said his government had submitted a formal request to leave the Hague Group. He made the announcement at an Israeli Foreign Ministry reception in Jerusalem on Wednesday evening, October 14, marking Colombia’s embassy opening, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar attending. Bula criticized what he described as the group’s efforts to isolate and attack Israel. He also said President Abelardo de la Espriella’s government would stand against antisemitism rather than remain silent. Colombia and South Africa were identified as the group’s co-chairs in its September 2025 statement.
