19 Foreign Ministers Urge Colombia to Reverse Jerusalem Embassy Decision

Nineteen Arab and Islamic foreign ministers called on Colombia on Friday to reverse its decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem. Their joint statement, published by Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry, argued that the opening contravened Security Council resolutions and undermined a two-state settlement. The signatories include Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Colombia’s Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Omar Bula Escobar inaugurated the embassy on October 14 with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar present. Colombia described the opening as a step toward renewed dialogue, mutual trust and practical cooperation with Israel.
