Upwind Raises $400 Million for Cloud and AI Security Platform

Upwind announced a $400 million Series C financing round on October 28, led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The cloud security company said the investment brings its total funding to more than $800 million and will support growth in its product and engineering work. Existing investors participating in the round include Greylock Partners, Cyberstarts, Craft and Salesforce Ventures, while Canapi Ventures joined as a new investor. Upwind said the investment will help expand a platform that examines running cloud environments, extending its coverage to endpoints and AI agents alongside code and infrastructure. It also described sensors, agent and skills scanners, and changes to its inventory graph. The company outlined three agents with separate tasks. Blue investigates information across logs and other data, Red tests whether vulnerabilities and exposures can be exploited, and Green identifies changes intended to address security findings. Upwind also said it has launched AI Labs for Cybersecurity, with work spanning AI security, agentic security, frontier models and benchmarks, and advanced AI systems. In a customer statement published by Upwind, HedgeServ chief information security officer Michael Cannizzo said: “Upwind gave us visibility into what is actually running, not just what a scan found.” The company said the financing follows its $250 million Series B by less than nine months. It plans further investment around identity, data and AI, without specifying a delivery deadline.
