Firebolt Reportedly in Talks for $220 Million to $240 Million Sale to MongoDB

Firebolt is reportedly in advanced talks to sell to MongoDB for $220 million to $240 million, according to a report published on November 5. No final agreement has been signed, and it remains uncertain whether the negotiations will produce a transaction. The reported price is below the $1.4 billion valuation Firebolt announced in its January 2022 funding round. That earlier round raised $100 million and brought Firebolt’s total investment at the time to $269 million, according to the company’s January 26, 2022 announcement. Alkeon Capital led the Series C, with participants including Bessemer Venture Partners, TLV Partners and Zeev Ventures. Firebolt said the funding would primarily support expansion of its product and engineering teams. The historical funding figures describe the company’s position in 2022, rather than a new capital raise or an agreed sale price today. Firebolt develops a cloud data warehouse for analytical workloads. In the 2022 announcement, then-chief executive and cofounder Eldad Farkash said, “Data is at the core of every app today.” The release was issued from Tel Aviv and San Francisco. The newly reported negotiations concern a proposed sale of the business; they do not establish a completed acquisition or a binding agreement with MongoDB.
