Mamdani Says City Is Discussing Netanyahu Arrest at September UN Assembly

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said his administration is in active discussions with the city Law Department over whether it can seek Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's arrest during the UN General Assembly in September. Mamdani said Netanyahu belongs in The Hague and repeated allegations tied to the ICC warrant. He acknowledged that he does not know whether he has legal authority to direct the NYPD to detain a foreign leader and said the city would act only within existing law. Israel rejects the ICC allegations, and the United States does not recognize the court's jurisdiction over Americans or Israelis.
