Saudi Arabia Issues Alerts as Houthis Claim Jizan Missile Attack

Saudi Arabia’s civil defense agency issued brief warnings Saturday to residents of Jizan and Yanbu for a potential danger, then lifted them minutes later. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels said fires had broken out in Jizan after what their media called a Yemeni missile attack. The claim followed Saudi strikes on Houthi military targets on Friday, after the group announced a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia and attacked ships in the Red Sea. The flare-up opens another front in the wider regional war after U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran in February and Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
