Akunis Accuses New York Mayor Mamdani of Antisemitism

Israel's consul general in New York, Ofir Akunis, called Mayor Zohran Mamdani an antisemite and said the mayor was hiding behind a false public image. Akunis challenged Mamdani's pledge to protect Jewish New Yorkers while accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza, calling that allegation false. He also said Mamdani's supporters prioritize terrorist organizations and Iran's ayatollahs over American interests, and accused them of silence after Hamas's October 7 massacre. The consulate said such rhetoric and incitement against the Jewish state threaten the safety and well-being of New York's Jewish community.
