Houthi Attack Kills Three Crew Members in Bab el-Mandeb Strait

A Houthi attack on the Tanzania-flagged cargo ship Tihamah killed three crew members in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait off Yemen, according to Yemeni coast guard and government military officials. UK Maritime Trade Operations said a vessel off Al-Mokha was hit by an unknown projectile and casualties were reported. Yemeni sources identified the dead as two Pakistani nationals and one Indonesian, and said the crew lost control before the coast guard approached. The Iran-backed Houthis had not claimed responsibility at publication, while their renewed campaign has increased pressure on the Red Sea route as the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed.
