Fourteen Sidr Crew Survivors Set for Repatriation, Philippines Says

The Philippines’ Department of Migrant Workers said the 14 Filipino crew members who survived the attack on the Saudi-flagged tanker Sidr are safe and will be repatriated. Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said 16 Filipinos were aboard when unidentified projectiles hit the ship near the Strait of Hormuz, killing two; their remains were taken to Oman. The agency is coordinating with the employer, ship manager, Philippine agencies and Omani authorities. It remains on red alert and requires risk assessments, security protocols and recognition of seafarers’ right to refuse voyages through high-risk areas.
