Hormuz Oil Flow Hits War-Era High of 17 Million Barrels, Wright Says

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said roughly 17 million barrels of oil and gas products passed through the Strait of Hormuz by ship on Monday, the highest volume since the Iran war began. He said another 4 million to 5 million barrels moved through pipelines around the strait, putting total Gulf outflow above prewar levels. Before the war, about 20 million barrels a day, roughly one-fifth of global demand, crossed the waterway. Independent trackers had estimated just 4 million to 6 million barrels daily, but Wright said ships operating without transponders are missed.
