Likud Threatens Defamation Suit Over Ofer Winter’s Investigator Remark

Likud threatened to sue former IDF general Ofer Winter for defamation after he said ministers and Knesset members had called to dismantle or eliminate him and referred to private investigators and hostile messages targeting him and his party. Likud called the allegation an absolute lie, demanded a retraction and said it would move to file suit if he did not retract. Amcha Israel later clarified that Winter had not said Likud sent investigators to his home. The exchange followed a September 15 campaign rally in Rishon LeZion and Education Minister Yoav Kisch’s warning that Winter’s independent run could waste right-wing votes below the electoral threshold.
