IDF Ends Service of Gaza Division Intelligence Officer Over October 7 Failures

The IDF has ended the service of the lieutenant colonel who served as the Gaza Division's intelligence officer during the October 7 attack. The army had found that he bore command responsibility, and an advisory process considered military investigations, professional assessments and the officer's arguments. His legal challenge temporarily paused the process, but a court rejected his claims in June and allowed the military to resume it. The Manpower Directorate acted after the advisory committee completed its work, following findings that the division failed to identify changes in Hamas and raise the warning level.
