Police and Shin Bet investigators arrested 31-year-old Sultan Abu al-Hija of Tamra on August 28 on suspicion of security offenses. An official police statement says he contacted Hamas's Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades several times while seeking to assist it secretly, and also communicated with Iranian intelligence. Authorities said they detained him before he completed tasks for those contacts. Police announced on Friday morning that an indictment would be filed against him; the contacts and intent remain allegations arising from the investigation.
