Pre-Oct. 7 Security Meeting Document Cited Recommended Hamas Leader Killings, Report Says

Full documents from the last two security consultations Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held before the October 7, 2023 massacre were disclosed on Saturday. One document cites "advancing readiness for the recommended targeted killings" of Hamas leaders, which the report says contradicts Netanyahu's claim that no such killings were recommended. The September 27, 2023 document records Netanyahu's ruling that Israel should contain and reduce the escalation through measured, controlled use of force and expand humanitarian benefits. The October 1 document states that Israel stood before a historic peace agreement with Saudi Arabia and should maintain a measured level of security activity. The Prime Minister's Office has previously denied such reports.
