Netanyahu Says He Directed Defamation Suit Over Egyptian Warning Report

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday he had directed a defamation lawsuit over a report that Egypt warned him before the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack. In a post on his official Telegram channel, he denied meeting or speaking with then-Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel in the months before the attack and said no Israeli intelligence official passed him an Egyptian warning. Netanyahu also accused former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar of failing to alert him and others after discussing warning signs on the night of the attack. His post announced an instruction to sue but provided no court filing.
