Netanyahu's Office Denies He Met or Spoke With Egypt's Spy Chief Before Oct. 7

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said on Saturday night that in the months before October 7, Netanyahu did not meet or speak with Abbas Kamel, then head of Egypt's General Intelligence Service, and that no Israeli intelligence official passed such a warning to him. "This is a false claim. It was denied at the time, and now it is being recycled to mislead the Israeli public," the office said. It noted that Egypt officially denied on October 11, 2023, that it had warned Israel. The Atlantic reported that Kamel landed at Ben Gurion Airport on September 26, 2023, and warned Israeli officials that Hamas was preparing a significant escalation.
