European Diplomat Warns of More Sanctions Against Israel After Election

An unnamed senior European diplomat warned that Israel could face a further wave of sanctions after its election, saying some European Union countries had held back stronger measures during the campaign. The diplomat linked the warning to allegations about violence and construction in Judea and Samaria and criticized Israel's countermeasures against Britain and the Netherlands. The interview identified no sanctions package, adopting body or implementation date. In a September 8 statement, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar rejected foreign interference in Israel's election and said boycotts harm law-abiding Israeli communities.
