Belgium Pushes for EU Sanctions After Attack on Diplomats Near Taybeh

Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot said Belgium would keep pressing for European Union sanctions against those responsible for violence and their supporters after diplomats were attacked near Taybeh. He called on Israeli authorities to protect Palestinians, safeguard diplomats and journalists, and prosecute those responsible. The IDF condemned the attack by Israeli rioters and said police and forensic investigators were entering the area under military protection to collect evidence and testimony. The military said the consular visit had not been coordinated with it and that an initial review found no troops at the scene during the attack; the incident would be investigated.
