CENTCOM Chief Reportedly Briefs Trump at White House on Iran Military Options

U.S. Central Command commander Admiral Brad Cooper reportedly presented President Donald Trump with military options for Iran during a rare visit to the White House. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman General Dan Caine attended the briefing, according to U.S. officials and other people familiar with the discussions. The meeting was disclosed on October 29, but its date was not specified. An unnamed source said the briefing followed a White House meeting between military officers and Vice President JD Vance on October 28. The account did not disclose the substance of the options, a decision to launch an operation or a timetable for military action. In separate public remarks on October 28 after arriving aboard Air Force One, Trump said his discussions with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and envoy Steve Witkoff had included Iran. He asserted that Tehran wanted an agreement but was prolonging the process, and said waiting for the election would not improve its position. Asked whether he planned a surprise involving Iran after the election, Trump declined to disclose his intentions and said, "Anything is possible." Those remarks preceded the disclosure of Cooper's briefing.
