Israel Expected to Stay Out of Initial U.S. Iran Strikes

Israeli political and security officials assess that Washington has decided to intensify strikes against Iran, while Israel is not expected to take an active role in the opening phase. The assessment says Israel is providing intelligence, defensive and logistical support as forces prepare for possible Iranian retaliation against Israel, Gulf states and U.S. bases. A separate Israeli report said President Donald Trump had not yet made a clear decision on expanding attacks to energy sites or power plants. Trump has publicly threatened further strikes, and the IDF has raised readiness for several scenarios.
