Twelve Foreign Ministers Condemn Israel’s Abu al-Duhur Airstrikes

Foreign ministers from Qatar, Jordan, Algeria, Indonesia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mauritania, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Türkiye jointly condemned Israel’s August 18 strikes on Syria’s Abu al-Duhur airbase. They called the strikes an “extreme escalation” and urged adherence to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. The ministers also demanded Israeli withdrawal from areas entered after Assad’s fall and warned that continued attacks could undermine Syria’s security and reconstruction. Israel said the operation followed concerns that Syria was moving toward allowing Turkish forces at the base, which Israel regards as a security threat. The strikes damaged the airbase, with no casualties reported.
