U.S. Envoy Says Intelligence Found No Turkish Forces at Syrian Airbase

U.S. Ambassador to Turkey and Syria envoy Tom Barrack said American intelligence found no Turkish troops, convoy, armaments, adversarial activity or offensive activity at Abu al-Duhur airbase before Israel struck its runways. Barrack said Israel had warned Washington for five days about suspected Turkish activity, while Syrian officials separately told Mossad that no Turkish troops or weapons were present. He described Israel’s restriction on a Turkish presence as a tacit understanding rather than a definitive agreement accepted by all sides. Barrack said Israel did not notify the United States or Turkey before destroying the runways.
