Jordan Condemns Netanyahu’s Mount Hermon Visit as Illegal

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry condemned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s September 9 visit to an IDF outpost on Mount Hermon in Syria as illegal and a violation of Syrian sovereignty and international law. Ministry spokesman Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali called for Israeli operations in Syria to stop and urged international pressure on Israel, citing the UN Charter and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. The Prime Minister’s Office said Netanyahu visited the outpost with Defense Minister Israel Katz and Deputy Chief of Staff Tamir Yadai and received an operational briefing from Northern Command officers. Jordan reaffirmed support for Syria’s unity, security and reconstruction.
