Vance Says U.S.-Iran Conflict Will Enter New Phase Within Months

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said the conflict with Iran will enter a substantially different phase within months, describing the first phase as the destruction of Iran’s nuclear program, conventional military and ability to project power. He said the second phase is to prevent Tehran from rebuilding while maintaining global stability. Vance said the United States is not conducting aggressive operations, while Iran still occasionally fires at commercial shipping, and claimed Strait of Hormuz traffic has returned to well over 50% of normal. He also agreed with President Donald Trump that the conflict could wind down after the November midterm elections.
