U.S. Central Command said its forces redirected the 130th commercial vessel under the naval blockade against Iran on October 5. The command said the blockade of ships entering or leaving Iranian ports resumed on July 14 at the president’s direction. It reported that 13 commercial vessels had been destroyed over the past 12 weeks for violating the blockade or belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ shadow network, and that three other ships were disabled after refusing to comply. Commander Adm. Brad Cooper said U.S. forces would act swiftly against vessels attempting to run the blockade.
