U.S. Says Gaza Reconstruction Will Take Years as Peace Plan Faces Complex Implementation

The U.S. State Department says rebuilding the Gaza Strip will take years and putting President Donald Trump's peace plan into practice will be complex. Spokesperson Tommy Pigott set out the assessment in a statement marking a year since the Sharm el-Sheikh peace summit. The department also said significant progress was being made toward a demilitarized Gaza where Palestinians would live without Hamas governing them. It described durable security for Israel as another goal of that process, alongside ending Hamas rule in the territory.
