Vance Says U.S. Seeks Iranian Pledge Not to Rebuild Nuclear Program

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Washington wanted a firm Iranian commitment not to rebuild its nuclear program, in remarks newly broadcast Saturday evening from a Michigan town hall. Asked about the outcome of the Iran war, he argued that the United States had achieved decisive success in some respects while Iran retained influence over the conflict. Vance cited Iranian attacks on oil tankers as a reason against withdrawing. He said leaving would allow Iran to control shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and credited American military efforts with enabling ships to pass.
