UKMTO said a tanker was on fire eight nautical miles northwest of Kumzar, Oman, after receiving information from a verified source. The report placed the vessel in Strait of Hormuz waters at 1:45 a.m. Israel time, while the authority said the cause had not been verified. UKMTO advised nearby vessels to transit cautiously and report suspicious activity as authorities investigated. The fire occurred near the Omani route that U.S. forces have encouraged commercial ships to use while Iran contests control of the waterway, but no source attributed this incident to an attack.
