Rabbi Dov Lando Says His Recorded Remarks Were Distorted
Rabbi Dov Lando said remarks from a private conversation were treated with distortion and complete misunderstanding after recordings about the Religious Zionist public triggered a political dispute. Speaking at a Union of Yeshiva Students community rabbis' gathering, the Lithuanian Haredi leader urged yeshiva students to avoid ideological arguments during bein hazmanim and said his outlook follows the Chazon Ish and Rabbi Yitzhak Zev Soloveitchik. The clarification did not include an apology. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had condemned the original remarks, while Degel HaTorah figures defended the rabbi.
