Iran Warns South Korea Against Military Role in the Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei warned South Korea against taking any military role in the Persian Gulf or Strait of Hormuz. Writing in Korean, he said Tehran would treat another country's military presence or operational participation as direct support for what Iran calls the aggressor, with serious consequences. Baqaei said Iran and South Korea have maintained more than 64 years of relations based on mutual respect. He urged Seoul and other sovereign governments not to yield to U.S. pressure as the regional conflict continues.
