Yemen’s Alimi Announces Military Operations to Retake Houthi-Held Territory

Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council chairman Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi announced military operations on Sunday to retake Houthi-held territory and extend state authority throughout the country. He said the decision followed National Defense Council decisions and completed preparations. Alimi ordered armed forces, security services and military formations to execute approved plans, saying opportunities for de-escalation had been exhausted. He urged civilians to avoid military positions and Houthi supply routes, and ordered forces to protect civilians and property. He also directed the government to prepare the restoration of salaries, services and reconstruction alongside the campaign.
