EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on October 6 that the bloc was ready to deploy an Election Observation Mission for Palestinian legislative polls planned for November. She discussed the offer in a call with Palestinian Vice-President Hussein Al-Sheikh. Kallas said Palestinians should choose their representatives through credible, inclusive and transparent elections. She noted that nearly 20 years had passed without a parliamentary vote and said the election would offer an opportunity to renew the legitimacy of Palestinian institutions.
