Islamic Jihad Official Confirms Proposed Election Alliance With Hamas, Dahlan Bloc

Islamic Jihad deputy secretary-general Mohammed al-Hindi told AP that his group supports a proposed joint list with Hamas and a bloc led by former Fatah figure Mohammed Dahlan for Palestinian parliamentary elections. Dahlan faction spokesman Dimitri Diliani described efforts to bring other factions and independent figures into a national reconstruction platform; the list's final composition remains unsettled. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has said a vote will take place November 28 in Gaza and the West Bank, though previous elections were repeatedly postponed. Dahlan has close ties to the United Arab Emirates and maintained contact with American and Israeli officials during the war.
