Herzog Sends Appreciation Letter to Flydubai Captain and Invites Him to Jerusalem

President Isaac Herzog sent flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar an appreciation letter, thanking him for steering the aircraft to safety and averting catastrophe for its passengers on September 30. Machchhar received the letter while recovering in hospital. Herzog wished him a full and speedy recovery, invited him to Jerusalem after regaining his strength, and reaffirmed his previously announced intention to present him with Israel’s Presidential Award for Civilian Heroism. The president said the captain’s actions strengthened the connection between India and Israel and praised the care he is receiving in the United Arab Emirates.
